Frequently Asked Questions
-
DPC stands for Direct Primary Care. It is a newer, more cost-effective model of medicine focused on the patient-doctor relationship. This is achieved by eliminating the fee-for-service model. Instead, we use a membership-type model that allows for easier access and more time with your doctor.
-
There are similarities between DPC and Concierge Medicine. In both, the care is personalized and you can communicate directly with your physician. The difference is that Concierge charges $3000-$5000 a year plus bills insurance where as in DPC, the doctor works directly with the patient in all aspects including payment. Your care is no longer restricted or dictated by insurance. There are no co-pays or hidden fees.
-
No. That is the beauty of this model. By removing the intrusive decisions made by insurance companies that may negatively impact your health, our model allows you and your doctor to make healthcare decisions that are right for you.
You can use your insurance to pay for other services such as labs, imaging, seeing a specialist, ER or hospitalization if they are covered by your plan.
-
Absolutely. Access to your doctor is priceless. There are always times when you wish you could access your doctor whether in person, virtually, or simply to ask a question. At Embody Health you will receive an answer from someone who knows you and in the desired format, whether a telephone call, video call, text, or in person. In other traditional practices, this is not always the case. Telephone conversations are non-existent, and appointment availability for video and in-person may be limited and thus inconvenient, or you have to see a different practitioner or worse, end up in the ER.
At Embody Health we strive to ensure that you receive individualized healthcare that is easily accessible and can prevent an urgent care, hospital visit, or a visit to Dr. Google causing unnecessary worry.
We also focus on overall well-being and thus can partner with you to help you reach other health goals that may include mental, emotional, and physical. We are your advocate.
-
Yes. While we believe better access to care and a better relationship with your physician lessens the need for specialty services, we believe that it is important to have coverage for complex conditions requiring a specialist, procedures, imaging, emergency visits, and hospitalizations. Plans that work best with the DPC model include catastrophic plans, high deductible plans, and cost-sharing organizations. PPO plans allow you to choose your physician but note that we will be considered out-of-network.
HMO plans are a little more tricky as they may require an in-network primary care physician.
-
Yes. You simply need to sign a one-time waiver declaring that neither you nor your doctor will directly bill Medicare for our services. Medicare will still cover any laboratory testing, imaging, medications, or hospitalizations ordered by our office.
-
Unfortunately not. In the state of Kentucky, Medicaid only allows you to receive care from a physician contracted with Medicaid. You can not pay out of pocket.

See our Services Page.

Established members will have access via text, email, telephone/video calls. Emergent issues would warrant the ER.
-
Of course. We will collaborate with any other Physician/specialist you are seeing and can request consult notes if you so wish, to ensure we are fully aware of all aspects of your health. This includes any hospital stays.

Coverage will be provided by another Doctor (if they are on vacation, for example).

We accept cash, check, debit card, or credit card.
